Hi, I'm Natalie. A question I get a lot is what is the McKenzie Method? So I'm going to give you guys a brief overview today about what it is.

The McKenzie Method is a treatment paradigm that's a series of assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention for spine pain and even extremity pain.

The McKenzie Method is based on using a series of repeated end-range movements in one plane of motion that's going to help improve your symptoms, so reduce your pain, and also improve your mechanics or improve how well you move through that joint.

A trained McKenzie provider will take you through an assessment to help determine which plane of motion is best for you, and then your treatment will be based on this.

A really important step of the McKenzie treatment as well is the prevention. You'll be given a clear outline of what you need to do going forward to help reduce the rate of recurrence of pain.

If you've tried traditional physical therapy in the past and not had good results, I'd highly recommend working with a trained McKenzie provider. It's also a really great method because it's gonna give you independence as a patient because it has very minimal to no reliance on hands -on treatment or passive modalities.
