Hello, everyone. My name is Natalie. Today Veritas health is bringing you information on how exercise can help treat low back pain. Exercise is a very important part of all treatment for low back pain. It helps encourage your body's natural healing processes when performed in a controlled progressive and gradual manner. The intensity of exercise should be slowly increased over time, especially when you are new to starting a fitness program.

Movement encourages healing by spreading nutrients and oxygen to your joints, joint spaces, and disk tissues. The opposite of this is also true, with a lack of exercise and movement can reduce nutrition, increase stiffness and increase pain. Strong core muscles, which refer to muscles of your abdomen, back, pelvis, and hips are important to help stabilize and support the lumbar spine. It's important to have an accurate diagnosis, so that you are ensuring that you are doing the correct exercises for your diagnosis.

For instance, the exercise is done for lumbar herniated disk are not always appropriate for somebody with lumbar stenosis. Please consult with your physical therapist, physiatrist or qualified health care professional before beginning any treatment for your low back pain.
