Hi, everyone. Today, I'm going to show you a gentle yoga pose for sciatica pain relief. This is a great exercise to help stretch out the low back and the piriformis muscle, and can be very relieving for symptoms. If this exercise does increase your symptoms or causes new symptoms, though, please discontinue consult with your medical provider.

To do this exercise, you will lie on the ground, on a mat, or on your bed, wherever you're most comfortable. Start by lying all the way flat. You're going to take a deep breath in. And on the exhale, bring your knees to your chest.

You'll then place your hands around your knees and pull them as far as you can comfortably, looking for a gentle stretch through the buttock and back region. Hold this position for about 30 seconds, or work your way up to about a minute, taking nice, even breaths the whole time.

When you're ready to get out of this position, take a deep breath in, and exhale to lower your legs. You can work up performing about five repetitions of the stretch, holding between 30 seconds and a minute, as long as it feels comfortable for you.
