Hi everyone. I'm Natalie and today I'm going to talk to you guys about exercise and stretching for lumbar degenerative disc disease pain relief.

Although the name implies it, degenerative disk disease is actually not a disease and more of a natural aging process of the body.

Most people with this can successfully manage their symptoms conservatively with exercise and lifestyle modifications, you can get a lot of different benefits from exercise that can help in many ways.

Aerobic exercise is shown to help release endorphins, which are feel good chemicals that help reduce pain and can help elevate mood.

Aerobic exercise can also help battle depression that is often common with chronic low back pain.

I like to recommend my patients to aim for up to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise five days a week and also aim to do strength training for the entire body three days a week.

If you are unsure where to start or not confident when starting an exercise routine, I recommend you see a physical therapist or a certified athletic trainer to help you do this exercise.

Movement stretching are all really important parts of managing degenerative disc disease and can help really alleviate your symptoms.
